About Tironui Sourdough

Alice is an experienced chef who has been working overseas for the last 6 years, in Melbourne for the most part and London most recently. She was lucky enough to learn how to make sourdough whilst working at Spring in London, and has enjoyed it ever since. Her long term plan of moving back to the Kapiti Coast was bought forward because of Covid-19, and hence Tironui Sourdough was born!

Alice was working as a chef during the earlier part of the week, but decided to take the plunge to move Tironui Sourdough full time in August 2021! She feels very lucky to have use of the Ōtaki Māori Racecourse kitchen, and is making as much bread as she can to take down to the Waikanae Community Market on Saturday’s.

You can now also get some of her products (including the Signature Sourdough) delivered fresh to your letterbox on Wednesdays too, if you live between Otaki and Raumati South. Check out the order page for details.

Tironui Sourdough started as a passion project over Lockdown 2020.

Initially it was two loaves at a time, dropping still-warm loaves to the letterboxes of friends and family.

It has now grown quite significantly, with Alice’s bread, bagels and English muffins being very well received at markets and by anyone who tries them!

As a one-woman operation, there are only have a few items on offer so Alice can focus on making them as good as they can possibly be.

However there are two new additions to the offering - a fruit loaf and bagels!

Who knows what the future may hold,

so keep an eye out on here or on the @eattironui instagram feed for new products as they become available.
